Day 1: TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
Depart South Westwards for Bwindi . Take a stop over at the Equator then proceed. The drive takes you through the picturesque sceneries of the Western part of Uganda which is sometimes known as the Switzerland of Uganda. Have lunch en route and then continue to the park passing through the gorgeous rising and falling scenery of the Switzerland of Uganda! On the last hill of the countryside is the enormous plane of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo the Virunga volcanoes overshadow the view. In the North is the Northern cult of Bwindi national park and in the south is Mgahinga and the Southern part of Bwindi. The drive might be long but is rewarding with beautiful sceneries and artistic African exquisiteness.
Dinner and Over night at Buhoma Homestead/ Gorilla resort Camp/ Buhoma Community bandas if you are tracking gorillas in the main part of Bwindi.
Dinner and Over night at Nkuringo Safari Lodge /Travelers rest Hotel/ Virunga Lodge if you are tracking gorillas in the Nkuringo family. Travelers Rest Hotel is placed out side Kisoro and it offers a pleasant stay for the tourists, who come to see the endangered mountain gorilla. The hotel built in a pretty colonial style and was entirely renovated in 1999. Because of its content quality, Dianne Fossey a writer on Gorillas remarked that it was her second home when she was doing research about gorillas.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking
Well equipped with your tracking gear, packed lunch, drinking water, you will assemble at the starting points for briefing from the rangers about gorilla tracking the great escapade and encounter! The time taken to come across these gentle giants is erratic for it may take1-10 hours. Nevertheless, on encounter, one may be forced to say, it is a worthwhile!!! After the adventure a certificate awaits the successful tracker. The day is not easy at times and it may be backbreaking and irksome whilst trekking but appealing after encounters. Dinner and over night at Your Lodge.
If you tracked gorilla in the Nkuringo family , You will then be transferred to Kabale for dinner and over night at Arcadia Cottage.
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth
After early break fast, proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range most of the journey. You will have a drive through Ishasha sector in search for tree climbing lions. A game drive en route may be rewarded with view of waterbucks, Buffaloes, Elephants, Leopards, Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species. Arrive early for lunch at Mweya Safari Lodge. Have lunch. In the evening drive to the Lake Katwe salt areas to experience local methods of salt mining as well. Dinner and overnight at Luxury –Mweya safari Lodge / Jacana Safari lodge/Mid Range – Hippos camp/ Basic Institute of Ecology
Day 4 THE LAUNCH CRUISE ALONG THE KAZINGA CHANNEL
Take a cup of coffee get on an early morning game drive along Kasenyi track and Queens mile in the park and expect to see Lions, Elephants, cape buffalo, Warthogs, leopard, hyena, mangoose, waterbucks, Kobs, and lots many small animals and birds. After the game drive, drive back to the lodge for Mid morning breakfast as you wait for lunch lunch. After lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking
After a cup of coffee, with your packed breakfast and lunch, drive to Kyambura gorge for a forest walk to search for the habituated chimpanzees and other primates. Expect also the hyena, giant forest hog, and lion. The rangers will provide you with a walking stick if you need one. You may opt to go for a nature walk in the Maramagambo forest to view the unique futures in this tropical rain forest. The bats cave in this forest is stunning with a lot of bats that the Rock Pythons in this cave prey on. The blue lake with the myths attached to its formation being told by the ranger is astounding!! In the after Noon , after lunch return to Kampala or Entebbe. Air port drop off in this case if on the same day that the safari ends are a complimentary. Or transferred back to your Hotel in Kampala.
